Welcome to the State Library of Tasmania's Learning 2.0 Program

Listen to audio here

Congratulations to all of you who have chosen to participate in this program and who are on your way to developing an understanding of the Web 2.0 tools readily available in today’s society. Each week we will place a new post here which will give a little run down of the week's activity. We will also send out an email, with explanations, encouragement and sites of interest. To begin, click on the heading of each week, or the underlined link, to take you to the activities page. There, you will need to follow the steps to complete the week's 'thing'.

On the side of the pages you will find some other links, a 'Site of the week' link that will have a new interesting website to explore each week, the tracking log, where you can monitor your progress during the program, and the Participants' Blogs page, where you can find a list of the blogs being created by staff at your library. There you can click on each one, to see what your colleagues have been up to. Keep tuned to this area, as it is a good place to be inspired and entertained.

Frequently asked questions

What about Privacy?
There is none! Everyone can read your blog, this is the nature of blogs in general.
Suggestions: You can remain anonymous by choosing a Generic Name for the blog and hide your user profile if you wish.
Keep in mind the type of posts you make and use discretion in mentioning names/places etc. Copyright issues and intellectual content also apply to blogs.

How do I Register?
Use the link to the online registration form down the side panel of this blog. It also includes a blog registration.
Use the CUT and PASTE method to put your URL into your registration form .

How does this online learning program work?
This is a self-discovery program which encourages staff to take control of their own learning and to utilize their lifelong learning skills through exploration and PLAY.
Staff are encouraged to work together and share with each other their discoveries, techniques and "how to's" both in person and through their blogs.

How long do I have to complete this program?
The program begins on ?????

How do I track my progress?
Each staff member that chooses to participate in this program will be required to keep a blog to track their own progress.
Basically you will make regular posts to your blog about what you are learning, likes, dislikes etc... noting each week and addressing each activity.
A Staff tracking log (on Google Docs) will be kept where your progress will be recorded.
This will be available to view from the blog.

Can I work ahead through the list of items on my own?
Yes you can. All links are live so you can work through the program at your own pace.
You will also able to go back to activities that you were unable to complete.
Some of the exercises on the PLCMC program are no longer relevant, so we will replace them with a more suitable alternative.

What if I need help - who can I call?
Since this program is self-directed and is being completed by many staff members throughout the system simultaneously, you are encouraged to work with colleagues along your discovery journey.
